What should the PAF buy with its $210 Million MRF Budget?

Thanks to the persistent efforts of Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile and Sen. Loren Legarda, the PAF got an MRF Budget of P10 Billion (or about $210 Million) for 2016.

The Million-Dollar Question now is: Which MRF should the PAF buy with this money?

a. the F-16 Fighting Falcon?
b. the JAS-39 Gripen?
c. or the F-35 Lightning II?

Unfortunately, both the F-16 and the JAS-39 will be soon made obsolete by Communist China's J-20.

So I say, let's go for the F-35.

I know, I know, we only have $210 Million.

But if we seriously plead our case to the White House and Capitol Hill, Uncle Sam might consider selling us two (2) F-35s with our miniscule budget.

I know, I know, two (2) F-35s do not make an Air Force.

But its symbolism is tremendous.

It will express in no uncertain terms Uncle Sam's extreme displeasure with Communist China's fake air bases in the WPS, as well as Uncle Sam's willingness to do whatever is necessary to neutralize this Geopolitical Threat.

And in the process, the PAF will have the best air superiority capability in SE Asia.

  1. i get your point and maybe if we take it(afp modernization) seriously maybe we can buy another pair by the end of the year.

  2. The PAF will determine what they will buy according to the mission and the threat needs of the country based on the National Defense process. It is not for social media to preempt that process because we do not have the complete elements that needs to be integrated to come up with the optimum decision.

    1. The primary reason why the PAF exists is to protect the Liberty of the Filipino People... And that includes the Freedom of Expression...

    1. The Communist Chinese J-20 is expected to make all Non-Gen 5 MRFs obsolete... So the F-35 is really a no-brainer...

  4. F-35 is far fetch. Not interms of how much dollar it will cost but the technology involve. U.s. Cannot sell sensitive technology due to the Chinese problem of spying and it is just on our backyard.

  5. Rather than buy combat aircraft just buy the sensor/c2 platform. Information is a better force multiplier and just us the FA-50 as a missile truck.

  9. we still need 4++ generation aircraft because f35 cannot stand alone... it needs to be escorted by aircraft designed for dogfight...
